France's May Household Consumption in Goods Increases by 1 pct on High Textile Sales
 

French household consumption in goods rose by 1 percent in May, up from 0.4 percent recorded in April on boosted sales of textile, the French national statistics institute Insee said on Friday.

Last month, French consumers' expenditure in textile surged by 4.6 percent compared to 2.2-percent drop a month earlier.

After losing 1 percent in April, expenditure in car purchases bounced back by 2 percent pulling the consumption of durable products up to 1 percent, the report said.

However, people had consumed less energy products, mainly gas and electricity which slowed down by 2.3 percent at the end of May due to warm weather.

Consumption of manufactured products accounts for 25 percent of the country's total consumption of processed goods and services.
