The U.S. dollar climbed to the lower 114 yen zone Tuesday in Tokyo as the Nikkei index rose to its highest level since 1992 amid higher oil prices.
At 5 p.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 114.16-17 yen compared with 113.65-75 yen in New York and 114.31-32 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Monday. It moved between 113.71 yen and 114.17 yen during the day.
The euro fetched 1.1588-1589 dollars and 132.29-33 yen against 1.1605-1615 dollars and 131.95-132.05 yen in New York and 1.1611-1612 dollars and 132.73-77 yen in Tokyo late Monday afternoon.
